proactiveness

In my last assignment I asked my customer what they mean by being proactive. I found various people have various ideas about it. Finally I had the following list:
Guess my need and suggest a solution – better suggest three solutions so that I can choose one.
If there is any hiccup you envision (does not matter who is the creator of that hiccup) let me know ahead of time. Please be ready with a glass of water before the hiccup hits me and be ready to slap my back if needed.
The last one I felt was the strongest – always come prepared with one or multiple solutions when you report a (potential) problem.
Most cases they did not want us to do anything they just wanted the information from the people who “knows best”.

Why do we do this?

Why do we do this?  We fight to save a few cents and also fight to pay a big bill.  We store everything that is plastic and cover everything in plastic.  There is more spice than food and more food than plate.  Why do we do this?  Because that’s the way we are.

Your Idea

We all spend a lot of time being impressed by people we’ve never met. They are someone featured in the media with big name, big movie, best-seller, company, product. We spend even more time trying to follow them! I am guilty of these thoughts as anyone. I thought of different things over the years, some to do with work, some to do with art…
On one such lazy afternoon, sitting bored, feeling a bit burned out by work and life in general, I just started drawing for no reason – this was something I was doing all the time as child and had almost forgotten. I didn’t really remember or know the reason -I just did it because I couldn’t think of something else, because it amused me in a kind of random, arbitrary way.
It was un-commercial and stupid. It wasn’t going to go anywhere and it was a complete and utter waste of time. But in retrospect, it was this built-in no effect or achieving nothing that gave it its edge. Because it was the exact opposite of all the Big Plans we all are used to make. It was a great feeling not to have to be thinking about all that… for a change.
It is being possessive to have something that belonged just to myself and no one else. It is liberating to feel the independence and freedom. It is who cares feeling and natural to be doing something that didn’t have to impress anyone.
I realise with this the world started paying attention!
For a good idea, it doesn’t have to be big. It just has to connect to the world – But the two are not the same thing! Your idea doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be yours alone. The more the idea is yours alone, the more freedom you have to do something really amazing. The more amazing, the more people will click with your idea. The more people click with your idea, the more it will connect the world!
